ADAPTATION.
When the first COVID-19 case set foot on South African soil, in early March of 2020, it was an absolute no brainer that the unique service application, TouchBase, would undergo changes to better suit the ever changing uncertainties of the world.

We knew this wasn’t going to be easy. We knew this was an enormous task. We created TouchBase to take on these real-world challenges. Being passionate and acutely aware of these issues is what guided our mission and vision. We're living in rather challenging times which has resulted in numerous challenges for many globally. But it's not all bad news as South Africa's nationwide lockdown has also given rise to so many wonderful new ways of connecting, living and achieving amazing personal feats.

TouchBase was adapted to solve both the effects and aftereffects of the Corona Virus Pandemic. Reaching out to organisations who are at the frontline of assisting in combating the virus, soon became our key priority. Swift action was taken as we reached out and connected with innovative initiatives such as Ubuntu Beds, who coordinate the hospitality industry into offering accessible accommodation to the frontline healthcare workers in order to keep their families safe from exposure risk. This was only just the beginning.

Being active members of our schools Interact Club, we encouraged our school to join us in using this time during the National Lockdown to go through their belongings and set aside items to be donated to members of the community who have been severely affected by the pandemic. This initiative reached an Interact Society in the United States of America who were eager to collaborate on this outreach project. This sparked an idea -TouchBase could be adapted and implemented into countries across the world. Borders did not define its limits. TouchBase is currently in the process of expanding to a global market which will in turn assist more people to reach out and serve their community - not only now, but forever.

The COVID-19 pandemic is not something that will just disappear. It is something that will be with us for years to come. "We are not returning to normal for the next two to three years", said Professor Shabir Madhi, who heads up the Public Health Subcommittee advising South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa and his cabinet.

"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much". This Helen Keller quote has resonated with us right from the start of our journey and emphasizes just how important it is for us all to stand together in solidarity.
The Global Pandemic is a living reminder of just how connected our world is. If we work together and help others, we shall overcome. Through TouchBase, users have the power to touch more lives than ever before.
