The ideation evolved from the following question:

“What is a challenge many South Africans face?”

In the 2019 State of the Nation Address, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the government would concentrate on a variety of issues, but what really stood out for us was the phrase, “A better Africa and World”.

​

We discovered that many South Africans aspire to help and serve others, however, they are more often than not, unaware of organisations in need of their support. These include both Governmental and Non-Governmental organisations who strive to improve the lives of others.

​

​Having realised that apps of a vaguely similar nature already exist, we decided to take one step back and look at what our greatest frustrations are. We found that volunteers, specifically in our community, but also in various parts of the world, often spend many hours searching for organisations in need of their support. This is not only time consuming, but also consumes a large amount of Cellular Data. Billions of people rely on data and that number continues to grow every day. But what has not been reduced is the price of data in our country. Broadband internet in SA is still costlier than in many other countries – and Sub-Saharan Africa is the most expensive region in the world.

With this in mind, TouchBase - a unique service application was born.

​We developed TouchBase with a clear mission - to assist South Africans in giving back to their local community. There is an African proverb that states “Unity is strength, division is weakness.” By implication, if we work together to help those in need, we have the power to transform lives and thereby uplift communities. The key message here is that no-one is an island and we should care for the welfare of others as we do for ourselves.

​Our aim is to improve the quality of life in our country by individuals with an online platform, in order to enhance more lives of South Africans and thereby making our world a better place. 

​

Nowhere is this more important than the current challenges our world is facing and it was with this in mind that TouchBase came into being. An application unique to the South African market and adaptable to the world market.
